The High Cost of Doing Nothing
Creating Visually Interactive Presentations:
Fixing the PowerPoint Problem

We all grimace at the thought of sitting through ONE MORE monotonous, bullet point-filled presentation. This session highlights four key principles for “fixing” that problem, bringing life to PowerPoint. You’ll learn how to convert low-quality, text-based slide shows into powerfully visual and flexible platforms that allow dynamic interactivity with audiences.

If you are among the millions of business professionals secretly hoping PowerPoint’s status quo someday meets a quick and painful demise—sparing the world more endlessly plodding bullet points, no doubt—this session will shock. PowerPoint’s true potential is very impressive, actually, a fact most speakers utterly (and sadly) overlook. Its secrets can unlock your conversational and persuasive abilities in ways never imagined, and all that potential is sitting there waiting for you to discover.

We’ll look at four key principles that redefine what it means to “give a presentation.” You’ll discover how adding simple forms of navigation to slide shows makes public speaking delightfully effective and FUN. Presentation materials become a visual library, where any slide is instantly available.

Skills learned help you:

  • Answer audience questions—verbally and visually—by quickly finding and displaying needed slides.
  • Skip less important content without viewers noticing (if time is running out, for example).
  • Change the direction of talks at any time to be more relevant.
  • Display optional hidden detail, if needed, such as full references, tables of specs, graphs, Web site recommendations, etc.

The session handout gives access to additional resources, as well, such as guides and a video tutorial for further learning.
